This small center fountain was hand-carved in Provence, in the South of France. Comprised of 13 pieces of stone, the fountain features an octagonal basin with a rectilinear column. Each of the basin wall stones has been carved with a deep cavetto undercut. The column has subtle chamfered sides beneath a quarter-round protuberance near the ogee molding of the square entablature. There are four raised circular carvings on the column that house the iron spouts. With a diameter of 43 ½ inches, this octagonal center fountain is much smaller than typical center fountains found in France. It can be placed anywhere in a garden or small courtyard. The stones could also be left unmortared to serve as a lovely jardiniere.

CONDITION: Very good condition. Intentional distress marks. Limestone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements. Some oxidation to the iron spouts.
