This hand-carved, single-pillar wall fountain consists of 10 pieces of southern Italian limestone. The fountain is topped by an angular pyramid finial that rests above an entablature with a deep cavetto cornice. An elaborately scrolled iron spout originates from the rectangular column, positioned so that the water cascades into the rectangular basin (10 ½” H x 30 ½” W x 20” D). Most of the basin stones are unadorned rectangles, except the back wall (that also serves as a support for the pillar), which has a thinly carved recession beneath a cyma molding at the top of the stone. The light gray stones have developed areas with a cream and darker gray patination that when combined with the intentional distress marks, give the charming fountain an appearance of a more advanced age. Our single pillar fountain from southern Italy can be used as a wall fountain or placed in front of shrubbery, gates, or other edifices.
CONDITION: Very good condition, with intentional distress marks, presented as nicks and rubs. Limestone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements. Please contact us for photos of the current patina. Oxidation to the iron spout.
