Hand-carved from Italian limestone, this pair of ball finials on pedestals measure over four feet tall. Both balls are roughly 15 inches in diameter and sit atop a square plinth. Beneath the plinth is a three-piece rectilinear pedestal, with subtle cavetto moldings at the top and the base. The limestone is dark gray with some lighter areas, dotted with a black patina and brown accumulation of lichen that gives the stones a more advanced age appearance. Ball finials, such as our pair on pedestals, can often be seen at Italian villas, flanking the entrance of a garden. They could also be used as decorative elements inside.
*For shipping and transportation purposes, the finials can be disassembled into two pieces, while the pedestals are in three sections.*
CONDITION: Very good condition. Light accumulation of brown lichen to the gray colored stones, that have areas of lighter gray and black mottling. Limestone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements. Please contact us for a photo of the current patina. Pieces of foam have been inserted between pieces of stone to protect them, but they are not needed for installation.
