These beautiful French urns on pedestals are re-editions of 19th century French originals by an unknown manufacturer. The soft cream color of the stone has been aged with a grey patina to match the originals. Exposure to the elements over the past 20 or so years has given the vases the sought after sporadic green hue.
The ornamentation on the urns’ rims is fleur de lys surrounded by c-scrolls. Two lion’s heads and two scrolled handles are at the widest points of the urns. Swags of flower garlands drape gracefully around the urns’ periphery. Gadrooned lobes cover the undersides of the bodies and the urns’ necks have linear cabochons and reed and ribbon moldings at the top and bottom, all placed upon a square plinth. The pedestal bases upon which the urns are placed have stepped moldings at the top and the bottom. The sides of the pedestals are carved rectangular panels with canted corners.
The soft ochre coloration of these urns is a wonderful contrast to the light limestone colored cast plinths. These French urns are stunning and can be used inside or out. Please note, the vases are composed of two sections and plinths are composed of 3 sections.
