Description

Dating to circa 1900, this pair of French silvered oval hunt plaques depicts two distinct pairs of birds, tethered beneath a cluster of oak sprigs. Both plaques have incised areas near the center of each side, with the top and bottom concavities adorned with bows (at the top) and a grouping of oak leaves (at the bottom).

One pair of felled birds has long, narrow bills, and the branches above them include a few acorns. The tips of the twigs extend almost to the bottom of the plaque, terminating just above a small leaf grouping. Conversely, the subjects of the other plaque have very short beaks. There are numerous oak catkins and the branches behind the birds cease well short of a cluster of catkins at the bottom of the plaque. The perfect decorative accessory for a game room or hunting lodge, our silvered metal hunt plaques can be hung together or flanking the entryway to a room. Both plaques are signed at the bottom by the artist.

CONDITION: Good condition with minor buildup and some areas with light loss of silver/uneven finish. Very light scratches. Both plaques are rigged for hanging purposes.
