With a diameter of almost 8 ½ feet, this large village center fountain would be an instant centerpiece in a large circular drive or in any landscape design. Hand-carved from 23 pieces of limestone in the South of France, the fountain has an octagonal appearance, not only the basin but also the center column as well.

Eight stones comprise the 101 ¼ inch diameter basin, with each stone topped by an overhanging capstone that is four inches thick. In the center of the pool is an 85-inch tall column that consists of seven pieces of stone. The robust square base of the column is 20 inches in diameter, with a chamfered corner on each side that perfectly lines up with the octagonal stones above. Halfway up the column are four carved roundels that function as collars for the scrolled iron spout. Directly beneath the water elements are four iron bars which would have been used on old French fountains to hold buckets while citizens gathered water. Today, they can be used to support planter baskets, adding a colorful touch to the lovely cream-colored stone with gray and white accents.

CONDITION: Very good condition with intentional minor losses and distress marks. Oxidation to some of the iron. Limestone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements. Please contact us for photos of the current patina.
