Hand-carved in Provence, France, this large center village fountain is comprised of 14 pieces of Estaillade limestone. Each stone has a cream finish with white and gray accents, expertly added by French artisans using a centuries-old technique.

The octagonal basin (which has a diameter of 80 ½ inches) features a thick undercut to the top edges, softening the clean lines of the fountain. A robust center column rises above the basin, topped by a thick entablature with an ogee molding beneath the flat top. Each side of the rectangular column has been carved with a set of concentric circles that function as collars for the four scrolled iron spouts. The column has also been adorned by a thin protruding ridge near the top, in between the concentric circles and the top stone. Two pairs of iron bars run from the column to opposing sides of the basin. The origin of these bars can be traced back to antiquity when village citizens would place jugs underneath the spouts to collect water for their daily needs. Today, these bars can be used to support wooden buckets or potted plants. Our large four-spout center fountain would make a beautiful complement to any property.

CONDITION: Very good condition with intentional distress marks and patina to imitate aging. Minor nicks to stone. Several stones have a rust patina from oxidation to the spouts (minimal oxidation to the bars). Stone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements.
