At over 31 inches long, this large bronze sculpture depicts a Senegalese lion on top of an antelope, pinning it to the textured ground. Both animals have wonderful detailing, with visible musculature and realistic fur and hair. A plaque on the side indicates that the sculpture was exhibited at the 1866 Exposition.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition. The bronze has a wonderful coating of verdigris, with some exposed areas revealing the original bronze hue. Signed “E. Delabrierre” on the ground.
