The cobalt blue on white ground hand-painted motifs of this albarello jar are reminiscent of the palette of Delftware. Our Italian jar, which dates to the 1800s, is adorned with a hillside landscape surmounted by a coat of arms cartouche of a castle on a shapely shield topped by an open crown. The verso side reads “F.C. 1778” in between meandering lines above and below the production mark.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Fleabites and light losses to paint. Slight interior buildup. Minimal craquelure.
