Salvaged from the garden of an Italian villa, this marble basin was hand-carved in the early 1900’s and most recently used as a planter. The ovate shaped bowl has an exterior width of 31 inches and has a small drainage hole in the bottom. A square, rough-cut block that extends from the backside would be used to affix the basin to a wall. The gray marble is naturally weathered. Not only would this piece be a unique garden planter, the antique basin could also be installed as a farmhouse style sink. Please note, that a portion of the right side of the exterior is long missing. This has no effect on the integrity of the basin, yet can be considered to add character. There is a nice speckled black patina, indicating that the basin was once used in an outdoor setting.
Approximate weight: 380 lbs.
CONDITION: Portion of the right side of the exterior long missing (does not affect integrity of bowl). Wear commensurate to age and use, including buildup to the interior of the basin with light scratches. Minor nicks and age separations. Stone is a natural material that can become darker or lighter from the elements. Please see photos for details.
