A rather unique albarello jar from Italy, this handled majolica drug vessel, which dates to the 1800s, has colorful, hand-painted cartouches on a white ground. One cartouche depicts a large flower, while the opposing image is that of a geometric grouping surrounded by foliage. The large twisted handles are mirrored by motifs of slithering snakes, braids, and spiral fluting that fills the areas outside of the cartouches.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Fleabites and light paint losses. Slight interior buildup.
