This marble crown finial was hand-carved in Italy in the 1800’s. The marble is cream colored with fascinating gray striped veining. Years of patina build up has also added a darker gray hue in some spots, specifically around the base.
The marble has been carved in the shape of a closed crown with a roundel finial. Eight leaf-shaped points curl outwards from the middle of the crown. A thick quarter round molding encircles the base above a molded circular plinth.
Our 19th century marble crown finial would make a fantastic display on a center table or pedestal in a room such as a library or living room. It could also be incorporated into design plans and used as an outdoor architectural.
CONDITION: Good antique condition with minor losses, rubs, and nicks. The marble has developed a dark gray patina from exposure to the elements. The top of the crown has a granular “sugary” appearance, adding further color striations.
