Hand-carved in Florence, Italy, in the 1800s, this tall wooden urn has been finished with a white lacquer and golden elements inspired by nature. A golden fruit bouquet arises from the top, above a neck adorned with beading and widely spaced fluting filled with margents. Two scrolled handles in the form of attenuated leaves with roundel detailing on the sides flank a golden floral display on the front of the urn. The vines of the flowers intersect above thick gadroon lobes separated by roundels and beading. An additional layer of gadrooning can be seen at the bottom of the urn, in between two more rings of beading. The edge of the circular base has been finished in gold, as have the three bun feet beneath. Our well-carved wooden urn from Florence would make a great decorative accessory for a center, sofa, or console table.
CONDITION: Good antique condition, with minor age separations, fleabites, and nicks. Some light rubs to the paint. The gold flowers have been professionally strengthened. Some buildup to finish
