Hand-carved in the style of Black Forest, this oval French from the 1800s depicts a pair of recently felled birds suspended from a partial branch by a crinkle ribbon bow.  The birds are wonderfully detailed, with visible plumage, and are surrounded by curled leaves and vines with berries.  The trompe l’oeil background mimics the bark of a tree and is an exceptional rendering.

CONDITION: Good antique condition.  Minor nicks and losses.  Rigged for hanging.  Professional restoration to a small portion of the crinkle bow ribbon.
