Our captivating and large oil painting in a giltwood frame (49.5 inches) is a snapshot of life in France during the 1800s. Based on a very similar work of art, signed St Aubin, currently on the market in Paris, this could be Alejandro ST AUBIN Y BONNEFON, a Spanish painter born in Madrid on January 20, 1857 and died in the same city on May 24, 1916.  He was a student of LIZCANO, he mainly painted characters and genre scenes, views of lively towns or villages, and was also an art critic. A painting by him is kept at the Galerie Moderna museum in Madrid.

CONDITION: Good condition with minor craquelure to the canvas. Very light age separations to the giltwood frame, with some losses and faded motifs. Rigged for hanging purposes.  Signed in the lower right corner.
