From Italy, this beautiful hand carved, natural wood wall bracket dates to the 1600’s. The entire bracket is flush with robust C-Scroll carvings, acanthus leaves and feathered ornamentation. The top has a center molding that is horizontal with canted moldings on either side. These fit into stepped out moldings. Beneath this are flourishes of feathered scrolls with a putto beneath appearing to hold the scrolls up in both hands. His feet rest upon another acanthus leaf scroll, with more feathered scrolls and acanthus leaf scrolls narrowing to the base. This very old Italian bracket has a wonderful color and will be a fabulous accessory on any wall.
CONDITION: Age separations, minor loss of wood to upper horizontal border, old traces of wood bug holes throughout.
