Art Nouveau, which coincided with the turn of the 20th century, produced art and architecture that was inspired by forms in nature. Items in the style, such as this wrought iron table lamp from the latter half of the 1900s, feature great movement, imitating the liveliness and sinuosity of plants and flowers.

Notice the four scrolled feet, which are comprised of tightly wound leaves. The technique is replicated on the main body, with eight foliate volutes interspersed with twisted tendrils and geometric finials. Two small vines originate at the base of the lamp, bending upwards before terminating in small leaves. The lamp has been professionally wired for use in American homes, fitted with a harp, and topped with a cream linen shade, allowing it to be used as a table lamp in an office, living room, or library.

CONDITION: Very good condition with minor wear.  Slight bending to iron lamp body. Some oxidation is commensurate with age. The lamp has been wired professionally for use in American homes, complete with a harp, fitting a cream linen shade.  Traces of green paint stains in some areas (see detail photos).
