This small French statue from the 1600s depicts a person in a two- piece robe with the bottom right hand portion of the robe attached above the knee. He is standing on a small carved pedestal with carved escutcheon motifs surrounding a date of 1520. The artist has depicted the draping of the robes beautifully. There are also two indentations open to each other on its back where wings may have once been. This beautiful statue recently came from a private collection in France.
CONDITION: Condition commensurate with age. Right arm is loose, but in place. Losses as seen in photos, including some fingers. Minor losses to back of molding on the base.
