Hand-carved in four sections, this pair of Italian limestone acorn finials sit on robust octagonal plinths. The lower section of each ovate nut is encircled by a gadrooned calybium. Beneath the cupule is an octagonal column with a tapering neck adorned with quarter-round molding. There is a subtle bevel at the bottom of the neck above the thick two-piece plinth. The bottom stone has luscious ogee molding before finishing with a thick, straight edge. A light accumulation of brown moss adds a splash of color to the variegated gray color stone with some small white inclusions. Our fascinating Italian acorn finials can be used as garden ornaments or to flank a driveway or set of steps.
Please note that foam and painter sticks can be seen in between the sections of stones. These will not be needed for a proper installation.
CONDITION: Very good condition. Light nicks and rubs. One of the plinths had some restoration work from a local stone carver. Slight accumulation of moss, adding to the patina. Limestone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements. Please contact us for a photo of the current patina.
