Pair of French Gold Leaf Louis Philippe Mirrors with Floral Motifs, C. 1890

SKU: 923-37 Category:

$7,400.00

Description

French Louis Philippe mirrors, such as these two giltwood wall mirrors with floral motifs, are always in high demand; they are highly versatile pieces that mesh well with just about any interior design style.  The fact that these are a pair makes them extra sought-after, as they can be placed in the same room and even on the same wall.

Subtle embellishments, in this case, a central quarter-round molding adorned with a continuous floral margent, are not overpowering, allowing the timeless shape and structure of the mirrors to hold prominence. Our Louis Philippe mirrors have the traditional curved upper corners that soften the rectangular-shaped glass. A thin border of beading encompasses each mirrored section, but the rest of the moldings are without any embellishments. Our pair of giltwood Louis Philippe mirrors would look exceptional when hung over a pair of consoles or flanking a large item, such as a fireplace mantel or couch.

CONDITION: Good antique condition with slight age separations and losses to frames. Minor touch-ups to the gilding, with some light losses that reveal traces of the red bole, a desirable trait. Light wear and loss of silver to the glasses. Only one mirror is rigged in the back for hanging.
