Inspired by the bell shape of classical Campana urns, this pair of French cast iron planters would make wonderful additions to any garden or interior landscaping. The planters feature wide openings associated with Campana urns; in this case, the quarter-rolled rim is adorned with a repeating niche pattern. Widely spaced flutes embellish the main body, transitioning to thick gadroon on the underside of the “bell”, just above thin, recessed lobes on the neck. The iron has been finished in gray, but substantial oxidation has overtaken the paint, giving the planters a wonderful brownish-orange hue. Our French Campana planters have drainage holes, allowing them to be used functionally, such as flanking an exterior door or walkway.
CONDITION: Good condition. Commensurate buildup from being used as an exterior planter, presenting as minor nicks and scuffs, with some light paint rubs. Oxidation has led to a great brownish-orange patina over gray finish.
