Description

Dating to 1890, this pair of vibrant French bronze dore five-light sconces are in the style of Louis XVI. Each of the sinuous arms is detailed with twisted fluting that emerges from a leaf rinceau, with the middle arm and the two outside arms originating below the other two. This arrangement gives the arms a wonderful optical, providing a wider scope of illumination. Each arm is topped by a circular bobeche whose underside is adorned with an attenuated leaf. Cylindrical capitals (topped with white faux candle sleeves), embellished with beading, rise above leaf cup bases affixed to the top of the bobeches. All five arms originate from a chandelle column with a pinecone finial beneath a crinkled ribbon bow. The lower end of the column has a foliate noix that hangs well below the arms. Our Louis XVI-style sconces can be affixed to any wall of the house and can be used functionally in American homes.

CONDITION: Very good antique condition. Light buildup with slight nicks and imperfections. Professionally wired for use in American homes. Minor deviations to the measurements.
