Dating to circa the 1920s, this pair of French pot feu garden finials are made from reconstituted stone. Reconstituted stone is comprised of pulverized stone mixed with a binding agent, and in the case of these robust finials, mixed with coloring agents that give the stone hues of cream, gray, and white. Supported by a four inch thick square plinth, the finials have a circular foot and a protruding ring that adorns the neck beneath the bulbous main body. The circumference of the body has a thick undercut that is framed by volute egg and foliate darts accompanied by fruit swags. At the top is a pineapple finial emerging from a leaf cup. Our pair of antique pot feu garden finials can be placed flanking an entrance, driveway, or walkway. They can be positioned on the ground or elevated with a pedestal.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor losses, commensurate with age and weathering. Light rubs and buildup. The shorter finial has been professionally restored, including stabilization to the neck.
