The beautiful arrangement of C-scrolls, volutes, counter curves, and roundels of these wrought iron gates are accentuated by a hand-painted green finish with gold tole banding, leaves, and prickets. Dating to circa 1900, the French gates have two sections, both with identical décor. The elaborate arabesques have a shapely top line that rises dramatically, topped by a leaf cup finial flanked by a C-scroll to the outside and a curled leaf to the inside (as seen in the main photo). Each of the elements that comprise the interlacing curves is joined by gold banding and is dotted by numerous leaves of varying shapes and orientations, including some with wavy prickets. An elegant and impressive set of architecturals, these green wrought iron gates would make wonderful additions either indoors or outside.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition. Light buildup with minor rubs and some contortions to the thin tole elements. Some slight paint bleed in small areas.
