This rare pair of French bronze andirons is from the period of Louis XIV (1643-1715), which in France, was the period that the andiron reached its greatest artistic development. The motifs are intertwining dolphins with incised scales and stylized fleur de lys tail fins are beneath a vasiform having torch finials. Rectangular hand forged iron pieces on four feet are to the back for holding the logs or log basket.
This very rare pair of bronze andirons will be an asset anywhere they are used.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition, with wear to original finish. Old restorations and minor pitting to bronze on vasiform.
