This marble basin was hand-carved from beautiful breccia pernice marble. Breccia pernice is mined in Verona, in northeast Italy and like all breccia marble, it is known for its large, angular inclusions. Our basin has a lovely salmon color with red, brown, and beige deposits.
Thick gadrooning adorns the outside of the basin, continuing to the underside, forming a stylized scalloped shell. The back of the interior has a carved acanthus leaf that terminates at a thick block in the back of the sink. When installing the basin as a sink, the block would be used to affix the marble to the wall. Our Italian carved lobed basin can also be used as a unique planter or a large decorative bowl.
The basin weighs roughly 91 lbs.
CONDITION: Good condition with wear commensurate to age and use, including fleabites and light rubs. Minor buildup to the interior of the basin. Hole in bottom of basin must be drilled by installer if used as sink.
