French Carved Oak and Pine Table from the Pyrenees, Circa 1950s

SKU: 423-65 Category: Tag:

Description

With ample character and rustic charm, this oak and pine table would be a fantastic addition to any household. Hand-carved circa 1950s in the Pyrenees Mountains of France, the top and the stretcher have subtle undulating edges that enhance the curvaceousness of the truss ends. The robust stretcher runs through mortises in both legs and is secured by two large wedges. Oak wood was used to craft the top and there are some stunning wood grains, while the stretcher and truss ends were carved from pine, with some spalted areas that present as black flecks. Our carved table from the Pyrenees can be used as a small breakfast room table, a sofa table, or an occasional table.

CONDITION: Very good condition with minor nicks and rubs. Some of the edges to the top and stretcher have natural undulations, adding to the character of the table, as does the spalted grain pattern.
