Circa 1890 Bleached French Carpenters Work Bench Table with Lower Storage

SKU: 423-69 Category: Tag:

$3,400.00

Description

Originally the work bench for a French carpenter, this fantastic antique industrial table offers a storage shelf beneath, as well as a small drawer under the four-inch thick top. Hand-carved circa 1890, the wood has been bleached more recently (likely Elm wood), allowing the bench to be used as a rustic table and paired with a variety of color schemes. The nearly eight-foot-long top has a bench dog clamp on the left side, that is paired with the original vise on the front left leg. In between the four robust legs is an open shelf that affords ample storage. A small drawer affixed near the front right leg also offers additional storage. Our carpenter’s work bench table would make a unique console table or sofa table.

CONDITION: Strong antique condition, with wear commensurate to use as a workbench, presenting as minor losses and age separations. Very light traces of old woodworm damage. Oxidation to the bench dog and the vise, which no longer extends. The wood has been bleached more recently.
