This elegant wall fountain from Provence, France, has been hand carved from 22 pieces of Estaillade limestone. The thick crown is very appealing and unique, as it consists of two dissimilarly sized blocks of stone, both with a chamfered edge above a cavetto molding. Typically, you would see the crown cut into three sections or at least bisected equally.
10 stones comprise the rest of the back wall, which has been carved with a square recession with canted corners. A lozenge shaped backplate is paired with an S-scroll spout, both cast iron. Two iron rods traverse across the six stone basin, forming support for a bucket or a planter of flowers. The front and sides of the basin have an undercut center section, adding to the fountain’s charm. With its overall rectilinear design and a soft cream and white patina, our carved Estaillade stone wall fountain works with a variety of landscape designs, from traditional to contemporary.
CONDITION: Very good condition. Intentional aging, chips and distress marks. Stone can become darker or lighter when placed outside. Oxidation to iron pieces from exposure to the elements. Photos of current patina available on request.
