A unique and fascinating take on the traditional Italian lyre leg tables, this walnut table features a third leg that also functions as a stretcher. Hand-carved circa 1860, the subtly recessed ovate top has a gentle protrusion on each of the long sides. The 81 ½ inch long top is supported by two open lyre legs with wide stances and a third, elongated leg that runs lengthwise, through the other two legs. All three legs have beautiful fretwork, with angular and curvaceous barbs carved throughout, including a rising crescent-shaped carving at the center of the longest leg. Our triple lyre leg table can seat at least six adults comfortably as a dining or breakfast table.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor nicks and losses. Light stains and scratches to the top. Traces of restoration work, both old and more recently, including a long fill to the top and some added dowels for strengthening.
