Description

A magnificent oak beam table that exudes character, this thick dining table was hand-carved in France, circa 1860. The three-and-a-half-inch thick top, which is nine and a half feet long, has a slight undulation and numerous knotholes that have been filled, giving the table a distinct appearance. Supported by a pair of robust trestle legs and a seven-inch thick stretcher with shaped pegs, the table is capable of being used as a functional dining table. The wood has been bleached more recently, although subtle traces of the original finish remain, giving the beige table accents of black, white, and brown. Capable of seating up to 10 adults, our oak beam dining table is reminiscent of monastery (or refectory) tables used by monks during the Middle Ages and will effortlessly add a rustic sophistication to any dining room.

CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor nicks and rubs, with light age separations. Old restoration work, such as filling of knotholes and bleaching of the wood. Traces of the original finish are still visible, with some areas showing paint stains or discoloration. Inherent undulations to the wood. Attachment bolts included.
