A small, yet regal mirror from France (circa 1870), the rectangular glass is surrounded by a highly carved walnut frame highlighted by a stylized foliate crown. The open crown has been carved with a ring of bead and reel, imitating a band of jewelry. Each of the five points transitions into various leaf or berry clusters. The rest of the thickly carved frame consists of leafy vines that encircle most of the glass, interrupted at the top and bottom by prominent undulations. Our French crown and foliage mirror would make a wonderful wall-mounted mirror for a small area such as a hallway or bathroom.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition. Minor nicks and rubs with slight age separations. Light buildup to glass. Three eyelets in the back for hanging purposes.
