This quaint fountain element or spout was produced in France in the 1900s. Known in France as a mascaron, the cast iron lion is depicted with an open mouth. An item such as this would typically be hung from a wall, with water cascading from the roughly 1 ½” diameter opening. Surrounded by a detailed mane, the lion has a dark brown finish, but areas of oxidation have begun to appear, giving the iron some orange accents. Our French cast iron lion fountain element could be incorporated into an outdoor fountain or pond. It could also be used indoors as a bathroom sink spout or a decorative wall element.

CONDITION: Very good condition. Fleabites and minor rubs. Light oxidation. Bracket in back for mounting purposes.
