This monastery-style table from France is a magnificent dining table, measuring over 13 feet long. Hand-carved in the 1950s from both walnut and oak, the three-inch-thick top is comprised of five pieces of wood. The 157-inch long planks are kept together by three metal bolts, which are visible on the long sides of the table (they are inset in subdued lozenge excisions). Supported by two undulating trestle legs and a long stretcher with chamfered edges and stylized fleur de lys ends, the 13 foot long monastery table offers a large banquet table for a dining room, capable of seating 10-12 adults comfortably.

CONDITION: Strong condition, with some inherent undulations to the long sections of wood. Traces of repairs and fills, both old and more recent. The top rests on supports (no attachments needed due to weight), although there are holes for washer and bolts on the underside. Modifications to finish during repairs.
