Pair of Italian Creamware 2-Piece Topiary Fruit Bowls

SKU: 424-77A Category: Tag:

$1,600.00

Description

A very realistic rendering of a tower of fruit, this pair of creamware topiaries was produced in Italy during the mid-1900s. Creamware is a type of earthenware that is fired at low temperatures and then glazed with lead, resulting in a creamy, high-gloss finish.

Each topiary has a removable lid that consists of stacked fruit, such as grapes, pears, and bananas, some depicted with leaves still attached. The bowls are adorned with a pierced, repeating geometric motif around the opening, just above a subtly molded circular base. These Italian creamware topiaries would make wonderful additions to a living room, dining room, or hallway as decorative objects on a center table or console. Their neutral color allows them to work with nearly any color palette.

CONDITION: Good condition. Fleabites and minor losses. Light buildup, minor splits, and possible old touchups.
