Dating to circa 1900, this garden pot was hand-carved from a single block of Italian limestone. The stone was carved using a “rough cut” method, in which large sections of the stone are excised by a chisel. Often when carving stone, additional tools would be used to give the material a more even finish, but the rough cut method used here has given both the interior and the exterior a textured appearance. The stone has a light gray palette, with some areas that have darkened over time and exposure to the elements. A drainage hold has been carved into the bottom, allowing our Italian garden pot to be used functionally.

CONDITION: Good antique condition with very light age separations. Commensurate wear including minor losses and buildup to the interior. Limestone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements. Please contact us for a photo of the current patina.
