Known as a vintner’s table, this beautiful tilt-top wine-tasting table would have been used at a French vineyard during the 1800s. Hand-carved from fruitwood, the robust round top is adorned with a cavetto molding. It is supported by a pair of thick trestle legs with canted bracket embellishments above subtly scrolled feet. When not in use, the top can be swiveled vertically, allowing it to be stored when space is at a premium. The table is solidly constructed and the wood has lovely striations of yellow, gold, and honey-brown, making it an aesthetically pleasing breakfast room table or an occasional table for a wine room or bar area.
CONDITION: Very strong antique condition with slight wear to the top, presenting as nicks and rubs. Light staining to the top, commensurate with age and use. Traces of old woodworm damage to the legs resulted in minor losses.
