After the original Charles Cressent bureau plat (circa 1740), this French mahogany desk from the late 1800s to early 1900s is in the style of Louis XV. A large black leather writing surface is surrounded by a two-toned wood veneer and a thick bronze dore molding. Impressive bronze mounts can be seen on all sides of the three-drawer desk, including foliate mascarons, pierced leaf curls, and à têtes de guerriers antiques (ancient warrior heads) over all four cabriolet legs.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition. Commensurate wear to the leather writing surface. Minor nicks and fleabites to wood. Light buildup to bronze. Two keys, which are not original, operate the three functioning drawer locks.
