A pair of Louis XVI-style armchairs, hand-carved in France in the 1800s, each chair has a giltwood frame with several areas upholstered with a teal and guild fabric. The oval medallion back is topped by laurel branches bound by a ribbon of flowers. The foliate and floral themes continue throughout the chairs, including the upholstery, which is adorned with palmettes set inside a lattice of intertwined flowering vines.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor nicks and losses to the frames, resulting in the presence of red bole, which is highly sought-after. Light buildup and wear to upholstery. Slight age separations to frames.
