French Louis Philippe mirrors, such as this uniquely hued pair from the 1800s, are always in high demand. The clean lines and subtle decorative motifs allow these mirrors to be used with just about any interior design style. These particular mirrors have both silver and gold applications. Commensurate losses to both have revealed traces of red bole, adding another hue to the already stunning mirrors.
As is the case with most Louis Philippe mirrors, this pair has rounded upper corners that soften the overall rectilinear form. A row of beading, which is also a hallmark of mirrors of this style, surrounds the glass. Immediately outside of the beading is a cavetto cornice of silver, followed by a large center molding in gold.
Our pair of gold Louis Philippe-style mirrors with silver and red bole can be presented as a pair or hung separately within the house. They could be hung above consoles, flanking a mantel, or as his and her mirrors in a bathroom.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor nicks and rubs. Commensurate loss to gilding, revealing the presence of red bole, which is a desirable trait. Slight loss of silvering to the glass, which is also a highly sought-after appearance. Not rigged for hanging.
