Description

The draw leaf table originated in the 16th century, but it was not until the 18th and 19th centuries that creative tables such as these became popular. Our French draw leaf table was hand-carved in oak in the 1800s and was heavily influenced by Italian stylings, as noted by the large monopodial lion paw feet. The thick paws are topped by supple cabriole legs adorned with an attenuated leaf near the top. In between the four legs is a highly carved apron embellished with scalloped shells, scrolls, floral margents, and curled leaves. The slightly overhanging top conceals two leaves, allowing this amazing table to extend from 61 inches to almost 114 inches. Our 19th-century oak draw leaf table can be used as a dining or breakfast table or as a unique center table.

CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor age separations and faint stains to the top. Nicks, rubs, and scratches, commensurate to sliding leaves. Light restoration work was performed recently.
