This finely carved statue depicts a woman holding a bird close to her chest. It was hand-carved in Italy from one block of stone. The solemn woman can be seen kneeling on her left knee above a large rectangular plinth. An ankle-length garment has gathered around her torso and is tied at the waist. Just above the bundled fabric, the woman has her arms crossed tightly on her chest, with a small bird clutched between her hands. Her head is angled downwards as if she were looking at the ground. At 28 inches tall, our statue of a woman holding a bird can be placed directly on the floor (as photographed). She can also be elevated onto a table or pedestal, making a stunning piece of art observable at eye level.
CONDITION: Good condition with minor nicks and rubs. Light buildup with traces of moss and lichen. Stone is a natural material that can become darker or lighter from the elements. The statue has developed a highly sought-after patina from weathering in an Italian garden.
