Hand-made from very old grape vine roots, this unusual table from France was created in the early 1900s. The truly unique table features movement and life, as the result of four twisted root legs and a burled H-stretcher.
Five planks with deep wood grains comprise the top that is encompassed by a twisted root border. The thickness of molding varies from half an inch to an inch thick and features tight twists with protruding nodes that give the table much character. Larger twisted roots form four legs that are attached to the H-stretcher supports below by round dowel construction. Both supports are enveloped in large burls, which flank the gnarled cross stretcher.
Our highly sinuous French grape vine root table would be the perfect addition to a wine room or bar area. It would also make a very interesting end or side table for a living room.
CONDITION: Very good condition with light rubs and buildup. Minor age separations. Visible knotholes in some areas, which are not considered losses.
