Originally part of a French boiserie, dating to circa 1870, this gorgeous pair of sculptures would make fantastic modern-day architecturals. Hand-carved in high-relief using fruitwood, each of the elaborate panels features a large, curled leaf, accompanied by a husked swag emanating from an attenuated rinceau. The impressive sculptures have a deep brown patina that has been accentuated with French wax. These panels would have been part of a grand room in a French apartment, with similarly themed fruitwood carvings adorning the walls, ceilings, and above doors and windows. Today, our fruitwood boserie sculptures would make spectacular decorative objects.
