This tall pair of zinc roof finials were fashioned for a rooftop in France, circa 1890. Both finials have a light gray hue, but a dark gray patination has developed in some areas from age and exposure to the elements. A rectangular base that features a rolled rim encompasses the large undulating foot. The rolling nature is continued on the sinuous shafts, which have a ring of roundels beneath large gadrooned lobes. A half round protuberance sits beneath a tapering shaft that were originally topped by an additional element.

Finials have been used for millennia as decorative features on top of roofs, spires, and domes. Our pair of French zinc finials would make great decorative elements for a rooftop or on top of pedestals flanking a driveway or set of steps. They could also be repurposed into a unique pair of table lamps.

CONDITION: Good antique condition with wear commensurate to age and exposure to the elements. Minor old repairs. There is a size variance to the finials, as both were used as lamps before we acquired them (Euro sockets pulled)
