This small center fountain was hand-carved in Provence, in the South of France. Comprised of 13 pieces of stone, the fountain features an octagonal basin with a rectilinear column. Each of the eight basin wall stones have been carved with a large cavetto cornice below a quarter round edge. The straight lines of the column are interrupted by canted sides beneath a quarter round protuberance near the cavetto molding of the square top. There are four raised circular carvings at the middle of the column that serve as backplates for iron spouts. With a diameter of 42 ½ inches (installed diameter might be slightly different depending on amount of mortar used), this octagonal center fountain is much smaller than typical center fountains found in France. It can be placed anywhere in a garden or small courtyard. The stones could also be left dry to serve as a lovely jardiniere.
CONDITION: Good condition with intentional distress marks and rubs to stone to mimic antiquity. Light oxidation to the iron spouts. Stone is a natural material that can change color with exposure to the elements.
