This antique oak table trunk is from Spain and dates to the 1600’s. The top is attached to the back panel with two wrought iron hinges with decorative straps that cover most of the top. It is interesting to note that there are slightly different variations of similar carvings on each of the four panels. At the center front is a key inside a brass escutcheon. The back of the trunk is plain and shows its wonderful dove tail construction. All this rests upon four molded bun feet. Over the years, this little trunk probably held a great variety of items. Today, it can be once again used as storage or simply a standalone decorative accessory.
CONDITION: Good condition with age separations, minor losses. Bun feet likely added later.
