This hand carved limestone, center fountain from France is octagonal and has well shaped basin stones instead of flat sides. It has four iron S-scroll spouts that adorn the center post, and the basin has two iron bars for holding flower pots or decorative buckets. Stone fountains in France were originally connected to natural springs, and were used as a source for the entire village. The iron bars in the basin would have held buckets while they filled with water. Today, these traditional village fountains are a beautiful complement to any property. This fountain has a diameter of just over 5 feet (no mortar) so it is a good in between size, and it will fit well in a variety of gardens. It was hand carved in Provence, France by expert stone artisans using centuries old techniques.
CONDITION: Very good condition with intentional patina and aging with slight nicks, etc. Stone is natural material that can become darker or lighter from the elements.
