This pair of vintage Belgian pineapple finials was cast using reconstituted stone, circa the 1960’s. Both pineapples have a molded foot and neck above a square plinth. The large slips above have curled tips, covering the lower section of the segmented fruits. Pineapples are “multiple fruits”, consisting of numerous flowers whose fruits join, hence the divisions.
Symbolically, pineapples signify hospitality. Placing our pair of pineapple finials on either side of a door or walkway lets visitors know that they are welcome. The pleasing pair of Belgian cast stone pineapple finials has a lovely, weathered patina. They can stand alone or be placed on top of a pedestal or column.
CONDITION: Good condition with minor rubs and losses. Light buildup with traces of moss and lichen.
