This pair of small angel sculptures were hand-carved in walnut in France during the 1600’s. The angels are mirror images of each other, although there are variations to the carvings, most noticeably the faces. Both sculptures depict an angel head with a partial set of wings above a foliate volute. More recently the angels were affixed to a metal rod that rises from a painted black stand, providing a method for displaying. Our wooden angel sculptures can be displayed on a mantel or small table in any room of the house. They would also make a fantastic and unique pair of bookends for a bibliotheque (see detail photos).
CONDITION: Very good antique condition with minor rubs and buildup. Fleabites and light losses. The stands were added more recently, with the angels themselves being from the 1600’s.
